Installed — fireplace and media wall

Black Label is Antolini's top selection tier — the slabs they pull out of the quarry block when the cut is too clean, too consistent, or too dramatic to release under the standard label. Platinum Travertine vein-cut is the move on this stone: cutting against the bed reveals the full sedimentary stratification — alternating bands of silver-grey, warm bone, and pale rose, threaded with charcoal seams and the occasional rust passage where iron oxidized through the layers.

Leathered finish. On travertine this is the right call — it tightens the open vug structure without filling it, gives the surface a soft matte tooth, and lets the dark seams stay dark instead of going glossy. The leathered hand also reads correctly in low light, which matters because this stone is most often specified on fireplace walls, primary bath cladding, and media surrounds — surfaces lit from sconces and downlights, not direct sun.

From the slab arrival, 2026

Architecturally, vein-cut Platinum Travertine wants a horizontal field to read. On a full-height media wall it draws the eye laterally across the room; on a fireplace surround it lets the firebox and any inset linear hearth sit calmly inside the strata rather than fighting them. The recent installation pictured below — built around a Sony display with a linear gas hearth, walnut book millwork, and a herringbone oak floor — shows how the stone behaves in actual interior light: the silver bands cool down, the bone passages warm up, and the dark seams give the wall its drawing.

2cm, 66" × 110". Cut and unpacked from the latest Antolini Black Label container at Royal Stone. Designers and architects working in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Pacific Palisades, and Malibu should come walk this lot — the vein-cut strata shifts considerably between daylight in the yard and warm interior light, and the installed reference is on file at the showroom.
