In daylight

Cristallo Lumix is named for light. The selection is a translucent white quartzite — tight, recrystallised silica carrying just enough warm gold filaments through the body to give the slab direction. Where the cleaner Cristallo Bianco readings stay cool and icy, Lumix has a definite warmth, which is what makes it the cut most designers reach for when they want translucency without a clinical read.

Most Lumix we see is polished — the mirror surface pushes the crystalline structure forward and the gold filaments turn luminous. This lot is leathered instead: a brushed, gentle relief across the face that softens the gold to a quieter champagne, deepens the field to a creamy ivory, and trades the wet-ice look for something warmer and more tactile. Daylight reads more like skin than glass.

Lit from behind, it still glows. The leathered surface scatters the light a little, so the gold filaments don't pop the way they do in polished — the backlit read is broader and softer, more like lantern glass than stage light. For a bar back, fireplace surround, or vanity panel where the translucency should be felt rather than seen, leathered Lumix is the more restrained choice. For a kitchen island that wants the full show, polished still wins.

Antolini, lot ED867, 2cm gauge, leathered, 76″ × 125″ — on the floor at 2303 South Sepulveda. We light it from behind in the yard so you can read the translucency before you specify.
