2cm Antolini Dark Emperador Henraux Honed marble slab, 69 by 110 inches — deep cocoa and caramel ground with sharp white calcite veining, full slab photographed at Royal Stone Los Angeles

Dark Emperador is one of the long-running Spanish marbles that Henraux supplies through Italy and finishes into the Antolini catalogue — a warm, deep ground in cocoa, caramel, and burnt-umber, threaded by sharp white calcite veins running the length of the slab. It is the darker brother of the standard light Emperador and the brown stone Royal Stone designers reach for when the brief calls for warmth without going red — bar fronts, primary baths, library walls, fireplace surrounds.

We took this slab in two finishes. The first is the standard 2cm honed face — soft to the touch, the calcite veins reading as bright chalk lines across the brown ground. The honed finish is what most designers want for working surfaces: it doesn't glare, it photographs cleanly, and the deep ground holds its colour rather than washing out under raking light. The second is the same slab cut and finished in Antolini's Flute Texture line — a fine vertical relief cut across the panel, the way you'd flute a classical column. The 3D ribs catch the daylight and shadow along the length of the slab, so the calcite veins read in two registers at once: flat across the face and carried up the ridges of the flutes. Used on a feature wall, a bar front, or a fireplace surround, the fluted version turns a brown marble into something closer to a piece of furniture.

From the slab arrival, 2026

Both pieces are 2cm at 69″ × 110″, imported direct from the Henraux / Antolini yard in Verona. The honed face is the working surface for counters, vanity tops, and table slabs. The fluted face is the architectural face — for walls, bar fronts, fireplaces, and any application where the slab reads as a sculpted plane rather than a horizontal work surface.

On the floor now at Royal Stone. Walk it in the yard — both finishes, side by side — so you can read the contrast between the flat honed face and the ribbed Flute Texture under the same light. Designers and architects in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Pacific Palisades, and Malibu — call to arrange a viewing.
