Antolini Taj Mahal Naica quartzite slab AO792 in heavy leather finish lifted on the crane against blue sky, cool pearl-grey field with fine crystalline veining

Naica is Antolini's name for the cooler, more crystalline expression of the Taj Mahal family — the side of the deposit where the quartz reads silvery and the warm taupe drops out. This new arrival, lot AO792, is a textbook Naica: a pearl-grey field crossed by fine white crystalline veining, with almost no warm pigment and a faint cool cast that puts it closer to a high-end Cristallo than to a classic Taj Mahal.

The finish is Antolini's heavy leather — a deeper bite than a standard leather, with enough texture to read as honest stone under raking light. Heavy leather is the right call on a slab this cool and quiet: the texture catches shadow and gives the surface a tactile pull that a polish would flatten and a honed finish would render almost paper-flat.

From the slab arrival, 2024

Cut at 2cm and measuring 76" × 126", the slab is sized for a clean island top or a long perimeter run with a single seam. The cool silvery palette pairs naturally with rift white oak, blackened steel, unlacquered brass that has gone dark, and the muted greens and clay tones that have replaced bright white as the new neutral.

On the floor in Los Angeles this week. Walk it in person before it is reserved.
