Patagonia Original is one of the most recognizable Brazilian quartzites — a glacial composition of ivory, amber, rust, and pyrite-black across a partly-translucent field. Antolini's Hard Rock finish leaves the face in deep sculpted relief, exposing the crystalline body of the stone so light catches across the surface rather than across it.
“The finish belongs on vertical work: backlit bath walls, fireplace surrounds, bar fronts, powder room features.”
The finish belongs on vertical work: backlit bath walls, fireplace surrounds, bar fronts, powder room features. Grazed from the side with a warm fixture, the relief reads as architecture; lit from behind, the translucent passages glow through the amber and ivory while the dark inclusions hold as silhouette.
On the floor now. Worth walking — Hard Rock is a finish that photographs poorly and reads sculptural in person.
