On Costa Smeralda

No. 02.3

Quarried in Brazil. Limited supply; lots vary in color saturation and crystalline density.

Costa Smeralda gives a kitchen the look of a green marble — Verde Alpi, Verde Guatemala — without the maintenance. Sealed properly, it tolerates daily kitchen use and resists the etching that affects calcite-based green stones when they meet vinegar, citrus or wine.

Royal Stone stocks Costa Smeralda in 2cm gauge, in heavy leather, honed and polished. Heavy leather deepens the seafoam toward true emerald and forgives fingerprints; honed reads quieter; polished pulls maximum saturation for accent and feature work.

The stone pairs naturally with unlacquered brass, oxidized bronze, rift-sawn oak and limewashed plaster. Specified for kitchen islands, primary baths, fireplace surrounds and bar fronts where a single quiet color carries the room.
