Henraux Italian Travertine — Unfilled Sandblasted, in Los Angeles

Henraux Unfilled Sandblasted

Voids left open, surface stippled.

Quarried at Henraux (Tivoli cooperative) in Italy.

Henraux is one of the historic quarriers in the Tivoli travertine cooperative, with a particularly clean unfilled register of the cream stone. Sandblasting carries the slab into a finely stippled surface — slightly rough to the hand, cool underfoot, and warm on the eye. The unfilled voids are left open, so the slab reads as the natural vugged register of the Tivoli stone.

At 76″ × 123″, the slab sizes for exterior cladding, library walls, primary bath composition, and any application where unfilled travertine reads correctly. Sandblasted is the right finish for exteriors and for any room where the surface needs to be tactile and warm.

The right Italian travertine when the brief is unfilled and the slab is meant to register as material rather than ornament. Pair with lime plaster, terracotta, terracotta-tone flooring, oak millwork, and a darker stone elsewhere as counterpoint.

Common Questions

Questions,answered.

What is Henraux Italian Travertine?
Henraux is one of the historic quarriers in the Tivoli travertine cooperative, with a particularly clean unfilled register of the cream stone. The slab ships unfilled and sandblasted — voids left open, surface stippled — calibrated for exteriors, library walls, and any application where unfilled travertine is the right read.
Where does unfilled sandblasted travertine work best?
In the room where unfilled travertine reads correctly. An exterior cladding wall, a library composed entirely of the same slab, a primary bath where the slab is meant to register as the natural vugged register of the stone, an entry hall. Sandblasting gives the slab the right tactility for these applications.
Is Henrax unfilled sandblasted travertine good for a working kitchen?
No — unfilled travertine reads as the natural vugged register, which is right for exteriors, libraries, and application where unfilled reads correctly but wrong for working kitchens where the brief is filled and contemporary. Filled-and-honed or Stratos travertine is the right call for working kitchens.
How is Henraux Sandblasted different from Roman Vein-Cut Travertine?
Both Italian travertine slabs, different registers. Henraux Sandblasted is unfilled-and-sandblasted — voids open, surface stippled, lemon-cream register. Roman Vein Cut is filled-and-honed — voids closed, surface matte, classical cream register. Pick the register that fits the brief.
How is Henraux Sandblasted installed?
The slabs are mounted as a continuous cladding or a composed sequence with inside corners. Sandblasting gives the slab enough grip that it can be walked on as a floor in a bath or entry hall. Royal Stone works with installers experienced with slab cladding; bring drawings to the showroom and we will introduce you to fabricators and installers.
How do I see Henraux Sandblasted in person?
Royal Stone is at 2303 South Sepulveda Boulevard, West Los Angeles. Designers and private clients are welcome by appointment Monday through Friday. Call (310) 477-3223 and we will pull the slab for you.
