Amazonite is one of the headline lots in Antolini's Precious Stone program: a true semi-precious feldspar-quartzite composite, with the deep turquoise that gives the gemstone its name. The white quartz veins read as a fractured crystal web across the surface; the smoky inclusions give the field its depth and keep the colour from going flat.

Cut at 2cm and polished, the slab is best read as a single dramatic event rather than as a working countertop — a feature island, a powder vanity, a fireplace surround, a backlit panel. Backlighting picks up the lighter veins and turns the surface into something closer to stained glass than stone.
