Patagonia is Antolini's translucent quartzite from Brazil, prized for its ability to backlight into something between stone and stained glass. This selection — graded Original Unique, lot AO683 — is the dramatic expression of the program: large translucent ivory plates set into a network of molten copper, amber, and bronze veining that lights from behind like a vein of magma cooling through ice.
2cm gauge, polished, 75″ × 121″. Fully natural quartzite, hard-wearing, and a candidate for the projects Patagonia is famous for: backlit kitchen islands, backlit bar fronts, fireplace surrounds with internal LED, and feature walls where the light source is the design choice. Polished is the right finish — it deepens the copper and lets the translucent plates carry the light cleanly.
“Polished is the right finish — it deepens the copper and lets the translucent plates carry the light cleanly.”
Pairs with unlacquered brass, blackened steel, dark walnut, and quiet plaster walls. The slab does not need a partner; it needs a frame.
On the floor at 2303 South Sepulveda, and worth seeing with a light behind it before you decide. Tag it for your project.
