Gabana is a Brazilian quartzite quarried for its layered field — cool gray banding alternating with paler bands, crossed by occasional white and warm gold vein work. The structure reads horizontally; at scale, the slab looks closer to a sedimentary cut than to the chaotic vein patterns of the more dramatic quartzites.
“Performance, porosity and sealing requirements vary by the individual stone, quarry and finish, so suitability should be confirmed for kitchen or outdoor use.”
Gabana brings this color to natural quartzite. Performance, porosity and sealing requirements vary by the individual stone, quarry and finish, so suitability should be confirmed for kitchen or outdoor use. It takes both honed and polished cleanly; honed reads quieter and more current.
Currently in the yard at Royal Stone. Banded quartzites benefit from being walked in person — the rhythm of the bands varies across the slab and matters for how the material lays out on a kitchen island or a continuous wall. Stop by to see the run before specifying.
