Quarried in the Petris basin of Italy. Selected slab-by-slab for the warmer caramel-honey field and a cleaner cream vein.

Emperador is the working-stone warmth of Italian marble — a warm caramel and honey-brown ground crossed by soft cream veining, softer in scale than the bold Antolini Calacattas, deeper in register than any white Calacatta. The Petris selection quarries this family lighter and more refined; Select is the clean cut of that — softer vein, longer field runs, more of the slab usable for long countertops and bath runs.

At 75″ × 118″ the slab is a long landscape. 38 slabs on the floor at South Sepulveda right now, which means designers and homeowners can walk an actual selection across the floor — match vein, match register, lay out which slabs become the island and which become the bath surround. Honed keeps the warmth matte and architectural, and forgives the small etching of a working kitchen or bath.

The right marble when warmth is what the project wants and the slab is meant to feel like a material rather than a color choice. Pair with bronze, brass, walnut, dark plaster, or a Calacatta elsewhere as the counterpoint. Petris Light Emperador Select ships honed. The warm brown register is calibrated to a matte, architectural surface — polished would push the caramel toward reflective and lose the stone-like feel. Honed also forgives the small etching that working marble in a kitchen or bath picks up over the years.

Honing pulls the polish off and lets the caramel register read quiet and architectural. Under pendant lighting the slab sits like leather; against brass or walnut it warms the room rather than competing with it. The cream veining softens across the field at full scale.
