Bassi Italy

The translucent Patagonia.

Quarried by Bassi in Italy. Cut for the softest pink-grey register and the most dramatic white cloud formations the Patagonia family will hold.

Patagonia Alabastro is the Patagonia family’s translucent register — a soft pink-grey field, light enough to register backlit, dark enough to hold as a statement wall without light behind it. The white cloud formations are the feature: large, broad, drawn across the slab in formations that read as weather as much as stone.

At 80″ × 138″, the slab reads at the architectural scale — sized for a feature wall, a primary bath composed entirely of stone, an entry composition, or a backlit panel. Honed keeps the surface matte and the cloud formations legible; the slab translucency remains available for backlight on the wall application.

The right quartzite when the brief calls for a translucent statement stone and the room is built around the slab. Pair with brass, travertine, lime plaster, and one quieter Calacatta elsewhere as counterpoint. Runs beautifully as a backlit feature wall, a primary bath clad entirely in stone, a fireplace surround, or a hotel reception counter.

One Finish · Honed

Honed,
to keep the cloud register legible.

Patagonia Alabastro ships honed. The translucent register is calibrated to a matte architectural surface — polished pushes the pink-grey toward gloss and loses the soft architectural register. The slab is also a candidate for backlight installations: the translucent passages of the body will glow under a calibrated backlight when the application calls for it.

The right surface for translucent walls, full-height bath cladding, fireplace surrounds, and any application where the white cloud formations are meant to lead the architecture.

Translucent, matte, architectural

Honing keeps the Patagonia Alabastro register architectural. The white cloud formations read as material, the pink-grey translucent body sits calmly against brass and travertine counterpoint, and the matte surface forgives everyday use. The right surface for a translucent statement stone that is supposed to last as architecture.

Common Questions

Questions,answered.

What is Patagonia Alabastro quartzite?
Patagonia Alabastro is the translucent register of the Patagonia family — a soft pink-grey field broken by dramatic white cloud formations and warm vein passages. Cut by Bassi in Italy for the architectural statement register and the backlight application. Sits between Patagonia Bianco (a quieter cream-white ground) and Patagonia Glace (a cooler white transparent body) in the translucent Patagonia spectrum.
Can Patagonia Alabastro be backlit?
Yes. The translucent body of Patagonia Alabastro is suitable for backlit feature walls and bar fronts. Honing the face keeps the surface matte and the cloud formations legible under backlight. We can quote a backlit mock-up at bid stage on request. Bring drawings and lighting intent and we will lay options out on the floor.
Where does Patagonia Alabastro work best?
In the room where the brief calls for a translucent statement stone and the slab is meant to lead. A backlit feature wall, a primary bath composed entirely of stone, an entry composition, a fireplace surround, a hotel reception counter or bar front. Pair with travertine, brass, lime plaster, and one quieter Calacatta elsewhere as counterpoint.
How is Patagonia Alabastro different from Patagonia Bianco or Patagonia Glace?
Patagonia Bianco is a quiet cream-white ground with grey-brown veining. Patagonia Glace is a cooler white translucent body with a single warm figure. Patagonia Alabastro sits between them — pink-grey rather than cream, with dramatic broad white cloud formations that read almost as weather. The right call when the brief calls for figure in the slab rather than restraint.
Can Patagonia Alabastro be bookmatched?
Bookmatched Patagonia is available on selected blocks. The slab ships as a single piece; matched pairs and larger compositions are quote-on-request. Bookmatched Alabastro read as a single continuous cloud formation when installed spine-to-spine.
How do I see Patagonia Alabastro in person?
Royal Stone is at 2303 South Sepulveda Boulevard, West Los Angeles. Designers and private clients are welcome by appointment Monday through Friday. Call (310) 477-3223 and we will pull the slab for you.

Walk Patagonia Alabastro,
in daylight.

The Patagonia Alabastro register reads softer and more architectural in person than in any photograph — the white cloud formations run cleaner than photographs suggest and the translucent body registers as weight even before backlight is introduced. We’d rather pull the slab and walk you through than describe the formations.
