Cobalt Blue Zaffiro

The deep blue Cristallo.

Quarried in Brazil and treated & polished through the Antolini Cobalt Blue Zaffiro program.

The Cobalt Blue Zaffiro cut of Antolini Cristallo is the family’s most daring blue — starting from translucent crystalline quartzite, the slab is treated and polished to bring the deep ultramarine pigment to saturation. The result reads as drawn cobalt glass with a body of crystalline movement underneath.

At 75″ × 123″, the slab sizes for focal features — a bar front, a powder room, a primary bath, a fireplace surround, an entry-hall feature wall. Polished keeps the cobalt to full saturation and the translucent body reads brilliantly when the slab is lit from behind: the pigment shifts toward midnight and the crystals glow.

The right Cristallo when the brief is confident and the room is meant to remember. Pair with plaster, brushed brass, blackened steel, and a single quieter stone elsewhere as counterpoint. Runs beautifully as a bar front, a focal powder room, a primary bath composition, and any backlit installation where the slab leads the room.

One Finish · Treated Polished

Polished, treated,
to bring the cobalt to saturation.

Zaffiro ships at Antolini treated-polished. The treatment brings the cobalt to saturation; polishing locks the surface. The slab behaves as drawn glass under daylight and as glowing cobalt when lit from behind.

The right surface for feature walls, bar fronts, powder rooms, primary bath compositions, and any backlit installation.

Common Questions

Questions,answered.

What is Cristallo Cobalt Blue Zaffiro quartzite?
Zaffiro is the most daring blue cut of Antolini Cristallo crystalline quartzite — starting from translucent Brazilian quartzite, the slab is treated and polished at Antolini to bring the cobalt to full saturation. The result reads as drawn cobalt glass and glows when lit from behind.
Is the cobalt treatment permanent?
Yes — the Zaffiro treatment is a factory process that brings the blue to saturation. The slab ships treated-and-polished, ready to install in the application. Wearing and patina develop at the surface level as they do on any polished quartzite; the deep cobalt register is consistent throughout the slab.
Where does Zaffiro work best?
In the room where the slab is meant to lead. A bar front, a focal powder room, a primary bath composed entirely of stone, a fireplace surround, an entry-hall feature wall, a backlit installation. Pair with plaster, brushed brass, blackened steel, a quieter stone elsewhere as counterpoint.
Is Zaffiro available in other finishes?
No. Zaffiro is the registered treatment-and-polished formulation. The slab behaves the same under daylight or backlight. Untreated Cristallo variants are available in leather, honed, and polished — bringing the natural crystalline rather than the treated cobalt register.
Can Zaffiro be bookmatched?
Bookmatched Zaffiro is quote-on-request. The slab ships as a single piece; depending on the block we can sometimes lay out a matched pair. For larger layouts, a quote-on-request will tell you whether matched sets are available.
How do I see Zaffiro in person?
Royal Stone is at 2303 South Sepulveda Boulevard, West Los Angeles. Designers and private clients are welcome by appointment Monday through Friday. Call (310) 477-3223 and we will pull the slab for you.

Visit the Yard

Walk Zaffiro,
by day and by night.

Cobalt Blue Zaffiro reads differently under daylight than under backlight — the slab behaves as drawn cobalt glass by day and as glowing cobalt by night. We have a lightbox at the yard so you can see both.
