Lot MAN4860

The Extra grade.

Quarried in the Apuan Alps. Curated through the Antolini Extra-grade Viola selection in Verona — the family's top register.

Antolini grades Calacatta Viola in cuts — Antico, Bravo, Monet, Rosenoir, and Extra. Extra is the highest register: the block is pulled for the cleanest field, the most composed vein, and the boldest figure the quarry will allow. Lot MAN4860 is a textbook Extra — bright white ground, sharp long veins in saturated purple-violet, no haze or smudge in the field.

At 79″ × 124″, MAN4860 cuts as a single slab across most kitchen islands and bath walls. The veins run length-of-slab, which gives the stone architecture. Honed keeps the surface matte so the violet reads as pigment rather than reflection; polished is available by special order and worth considering for feature walls or fireplace surrounds where the slab is the room.

The right Calacatta Viola for a kitchen island that anchors the room, a primary bath where the slab is meant to be the room, or a fireplace surround where the architecture, rather than the cabinetry, is meant to carry. Pair it with rift oak, unlacquered brass, or a quieter stone elsewhere in the house, and the violet does the work.

One Finish · Honed

Honed,
to keep the violet saturated.

Lot MAN4860 ships honed. Honing softens the surface enough to read quiet in a working space while keeping the violet vein saturated — the purple stays purple rather than going muted. The honed surface forgives everyday etching, suits under-counter pendant lighting, and lets the field read clean under daylight.

The right surface for an island run, a primary bath, a fireplace surround, and any application where the slab is the room.

2cm · 79″ × 124″ · Honed

Sharp violet, matte, composed

Honing keeps the violet at full saturation while softening the marble into something the eye reads as light and pigment rather than polish and reflection. The slab holds up across long runs and under lighting on the ceiling — no glare, no hot spots, the veins run clean from end to end.

Common Questions

Questions,answered.

What is Calacatta Viola Extra?
Calacatta Viola Extra is the top register of the Antolini Calacatta Viola family. Same Apuan Alps ground and same Antolini Verona selection, but cut for the cleanest field and the most composed long purple-violet veins the quarry will allow. The Extra grade is selected for the rooms where the slab is meant to be the event rather than the atmosphere.
How is Calacatta Viola Extra different from Calacatta Viola Monet?
Both belong to the Antolini Viola family. Monet uses watercolor grey-violet movement across the field — soft, atmospheric, meant to compose the room. Extra keeps the field brighter, the veins sharper and longer, and the register more saturated purple-violet — meant to command. Pick Extra for an island that anchors the room or a fireplace that is the room; pick Monet for baths and quieter walls.
Is Lot MAN4860 available in polished?
By special order only. Honed is what the block was selected for and ships at. Polished Calacatta Viola is a worthwhile consideration for fireplace surrounds and feature walls — reflection reads as luxury in those applications. Bring drawings and we will lay out polished Viola options next to MAN4860 on the floor.
Is honed Calacatta Viola good for kitchen countertops?
Honed Calacatta Viola forgives everyday etching better than polished and reads warmer in the violet vein. Most designers accept the lived-in patina as part of the stone. For clients who want a maintenance-free alternative, see Taj Mahal quartzite or the Antolini quartzite collection.
Can Lot MAN4860 be bookmatched?
Bookmatched Calacatta Viola Extra is available on selected blocks. Lot MAN4860 ships as a single slab; pairs and matched sets are quote-on-request depending on the layout.
How do I see Lot MAN4860 in person?
